Haggai: Part 1

Consider Your Ways

Sunday, September 15, 2013

After the Jewish exiles returned from Babylon to Jerusalem in 538 B.C., they began to rebuild God’s temple, but it wasn’t long before they were discouraged and gave up. Haggai the prophet (along with Zechariah) warned them of God’s displeasure in their actions. Through Haggai God says to his people, “Consider your ways!” While his Temple remained in ruins, they had gone and built “paneled houses” of their own. God calls them and us to consider our ways, to examine our lives and get our priorities in check.
