Paul often chose to rejoice in the midst of hardship and pain. Paul chose to rejoice and focus on God’s grace rather than his circumstances. As a result, God used Paul’s circumstances to make the Gospel more widely known, and to encourage others, making them more confident in their faith and more bold in their witness.
