Before You Were Born...

Even though we know that God’s promises never fail, sometimes life can make it feel like they have. In Romans 9:1-13 we find Paul full of sorrow and grieving over his family, friends, and people being far from God and without faith in Christ. God had given every advantage to them people, including promise upon promise, yet they still rejected Jesus. But it wasn’t God’s word or promises that had failed. God’s word stands firm. Paul goes on to note that God choose us not based on anything good about us, but entirely due to his goodness. God choosing is the doctrine of election. It’s a truth that gives us great comfort and security in God’s kindness toward us, and moves us to grieve, love, and pray for those who are far from God that they might come to faith in Jesus.
